This forum is a forum for getting help with your fiction experience here at HPFF. With that having been said, however, there are areas of the site for dealing with specific types of questions and, chances are, you'll get your best luck if you're asking them in the right area.

1. No Graphics Related Content [Revised May 3, 2013]

Please do not create topics asking for someone to or offering to help find images or edit images. Threads like this belong at The Dark Arts and, if created here, will be deleted.  The Dark Arts was brought into existence to remove any and all graphics related conversation from the Help Needed forums at HPFF, and it is a thriving site dedicated to graphic design.

2. No More "Would You Read This?" or General Feedback Threads [Revised May 21 2012]
Suffice to say, yes, there is someone out there who will read everything. Please do not post threads asking simply if people will read your story once you get it written. You need to actually have a specific question when you post a topic in this section, and not just ask for people's general thoughts about your story.

3. No Summary Help, Title Help, and Character Name Help Threads. [Revised Dec 17 2010]
To reduce clutter in this section, there are now individual threads for help with these three things. Please utilize these threads rather than starting your own. Threads asking for summary, title, or character name help are subject to being closed without notice.

**Please note that topics that have been inactive for two months are cleared out of this forum occasionally. If you need to keep information from your topic, it is advised that you save it elsewhere so you don't end up losing it when your thread is deleted.

I've been seeing threads lately which try to embed a title/summary/character name help request within posts that contain other questions. If you are posting a request for summary, title, or character name help, it needs to go in the designated threads. If, at the same time, you need to start a completely new thread to discuss plot development or something of the like, you are welcome to do that. Obviously, one of the goals of the rule above was to cut down on the clutter in this section, but in this case, it's an issue of fairness: if you're creating a new topic, it's naturally going to appear on the "Recent Topics Added" list and will grab more attention, meaning that people are more likely to reply to your topic. It's essentially like bumping a topic so it becomes more visible—which, as you know, is also against forum rules.

This warning is not directed at any one person in particular; I've noticed this happening at different times lately. Be warned that if you choose to start a topic that asks for title/summary/character name help along with other questions, you are likely to find it closed—this is at the moderators' discretion and is especially likely to happen if we feel that your "other questions" are really an attempt to hide the fact that your thread is a request for title/summary/character name help.
