Dec. 12: Staff edit. The winning entry in this competition can be found here and was by TheGoldenKneazle
While the senior staff prepare for their Night of Writing Dangerously, we want to make sure all our members stay safe so we've deemed this week Internet Safety Week @HPFF!
We have always prided ourselves on being a safe, family friendly site and now two very special authors have joined us to help promote and educate everyone on the need for safety online.
Frederick Lane, author of the book Cybertraps for the Young, provides an amazing glimpse into the world on online safety that isn't seen anywhere else. His book talks about how YOU break the law without even realizing it and how these "traps" can end you up in jail or even worse. You can listen to the staff's interview with this author by clicking HERE
Author Sarah Darer Littman took the young adult world by storm with the release of her book Want to Go Private? Holding no punches, she gets right to the heart of the dangers facing internet users in a way that grabs your attention and won't let go for the entire compelling ride. You can listen to the staff's interview with this author by clicking HERE
And now it's your turn! We are a family and family means keeping everyone safe so it's time to spread the word and teach your fellow members about online safety. Listen to the two special author podcasts and post up a blog entry talking about what you learned from the authors and what others need to learn about internet safety.
Contest
The most helpful entry as judged by staff will receive a copy of both books and all entrants will receive an HPFF United wristband (while supplies last).
(closing note: Is anyone else hearing Stitch's voice in their head? "Family means no one gets left behind". Oh, it is just me? Please disregard then.)
